Crux Christi

For vexation alone gives the understanding [of God’s Word] to those who are listening, that is, the Word of God may be intelligibly irrational, if they are well vexed by the passion [of Christ]. The cross of Christ is the unique instruction of God’s Word, the most sincere theology (Vexatio enim sola dat intellectum auditui, id est, verbum Dei sit intelligibile insensatis, si bene vexati fuerint passionibus.
